But I did see 2 fish on the end of Hatefuls line spooling him as they ran up the mountains behind us, and I had one while my crank was airborne during said glitch.Ĭatching on cranks no problem though. We're on PS4 so no vids or anything, but we all had it and did until I left.Īside from the mountain scaling fish, it seems to be more a visual thing to me seeing as I caught fish while it was going on. But there is something seriously needs looking at there - especially given the tourney is about to start. Hooking a fish on a crank further out and playing it in is fine.Ĭan catch fish on cranks no problem, and I haven't fished anywhere else to see if it's just an Alberta problem or not. But it does happen every cast with a crank without a take. Only happens with cranks, spinners and jigs are fine. I can't explain the mountain climbing fish, but it seems the glitch is purely visual as I've twice caught fish while my end tackle is going everywhere. I myself hooked fish while my lure was in the sky. The more he tried to reel in, the more line was taken, and Sasquatch took over 300' of line before spooling or breaking him. Hate_Ful actually hooked 2 fish that swam up the mountains behind us ( I moved my character and witnessed this ). I shared a room with 4 friends and we all experienced this issue with every unsuccessful cast. It's presumably where the lure starts getting dragged up the slope of the lakebed underneath our feet while on the dock. Left, right, up, down, snagged, drag ticking, and all this is very fast. * I made this post responding to another angler in the forums and decided to make a seperate thread of it.So while testing cranks on Alberta I noticed that after an unsuccessful retrieve, once you have around 30' of line left out the line, rod and lure start going mental. estimated 5 day trip earnings with FishFort XL, lvl 30-35 spinning rod/reel and without Premium: $73k (travel, license and trip expenses not deducted). Often times, ending the day early with multiple uni trout. When you land a uni trout here, it feels like you are fighting a small orca :D fighting trophy and uni is addictive :D Alberta is my go-to spot after the famous Walleye in NY. If the spoon is slow, use the crankbait :) if the crankbait is slow, use the spoon Maybe Walleye would be a better choice since they bite like crazy in NY. But I would not personally travel to Alberta to farm these fish. If you have difficulty fighting a 12lb Lake Trout, then target lesser fish like Pike, Brook Trout, and Lake Whitefish. Just rinse and repeat these steps to not lose a big fish :)Īlso, you want to optimize your time here. Here, the drag is too strong and to back off a notch will be less chance for you to lose the fish but the fish may run when you do this, so compensate by increasing drag. The atlantic salmon really enjoy a shallow crank if you have one. For the lake trout use a medium spoon with a 3:0 or 4:0 hook stop and go or lift and drop along bottom. Something that can take 20lb test will handle most fish. *Important* When you land a big fish and the tension is bouncing all over the place, this means this fish is trying to get unhooked as the gauges on the right will be drastically going up and down. Personally I prefer a good casting or spinning rod for just about everything at Alberta. Recommended keepnet: FishFort XL or better (to keep uni lake trout) but not required. Even with my lvl 39 spinning gear, these fish put up a fun fight. This is a great lure for farming shells for the Voodoo Fish Mission and catching giant trophy and 40-50lb Uni Lake Trout. As you learn where to fish this lure, you will snag shells less often. Make sure you have lvl 28 spinning gear setup or so be4 going for those big fish. Use a #6/0 medium spoon to land more 20-50lb monsters here, as they lurk in the deep usually. The medium spoon is a little more challenging as you may snag shells, but will never lose a lure. Cast out to the deep areas again and let it sink but don't hit bottom. Target species: lots of Salmon/trophy and smaller Lake Trout.įor the medium spoon: I prefer lemon tiger. Bring up your map and cast out to the deep area as far as you can.įor crankbait: use the 30ft lure in the deep areas and a 12-16ft crankbait in the shallow areas. * This guide uses spinning rods and reels to achieve a far cast and good lure action and targets the Atlantic Salmon / Lake Trout species.įor easier farming use #3 and #4 /0 hooks on your lures.
